first post!
hi!! this is a test post...if all goes well, i finally have a blog set up for my site! yay!!! im excited!!
i used strawberry starter to create this. i love templates like this because i am not very good at coding from scratch. honestly even using templates and guides can get confusing for me very fast...and i get frustrated when i get confused...and then i cry when i get frustrated. i did not stick with computer science in college for good reason lol. but im committed to trying to branch of socmed bit by bit, so here we are! one day i will break away from neocities as well and self-host everything locally...
besides the blog itself, i wanted to share a few thoughts about things i have been interested in or have been doing lately. after all, the main reason why i want a blog like this is so i can share my long-form opinions without feeling embarrassed or self-conscious!
i recently started writing a script for a story i'd like flesh out into a full-fledged visual novel. it takes place in an oc universe i created this year called "ayertia". if you have known me for a bit, you may be aware i used to be a (semi) avid ffxiv player for around 5 years until i quit and uninstalled the game earlier this year. second best decision ive made in 2025! unfortunately i had a LOT of ocs dedicated to that game with nowhere for them to go (over 40 at the height of my fixation), so that pushed me to really start thinking about a proper oc world for them to be in. currently id describe ayertia as a post-war/apocalyptic world formed by the sudden appearance of magic/magical beings, where humans are few in number and are revered, and animouns (animal people that are mostly former humans transformed by magic) are subclass. im not interested in and dislike prey/predator furry race allegories (ahem, zootopia), and this world isn't focusing on that specific kind of dynamic, especially since i intend for animouns to be racially coded to begin with. its about a world fractured by layered race/class divisions and a human supremacist christofacist monarchy. but i also just want to be indulgent and design and write about black furries. :3
im not confident about my writing skills, but i really want to make stories. i want to create stories with themes and characters that are very important to me and im not going to see anywhere else, so i have to start somewhere. i also made ayertia with the idea that i dont have to make one whole encompassing story for it, it is just a setting for as many stories i want. i have three stories in mind, the current one im working on is a standalone named "surface tension" thats based on a twine project from college about the bond between a lonely girl and a magical fountain.
to that end ive also been pushing myself to play more existing visual novels (and read more stories in general) so i know what i want to do with mine. i recently finished the first chapter of higurashi and im VERY interested in where the story goes. the ending made me feel sick. it was really distressing seeing a group of friends turn against each other due to mistrust, fear, and presumably a lack of communication, especially with keiichi. im not sure if im right, but it definitely felt like there was a huge misunderstanding about the murders and the curse between keiichi and the rest of the club. the eng text can be sort of lengthy in a way that feels unnecessary at times, but it doesnt bother me too much. i like the kinetic format and how the text overlays the character sprites. im playing with the 07th mod and i like the artstyle sooo so much...i love everyone's big grubby paws.

ill close this entry by plugging an entirely different game, UNBEATABLE that a dear friend of mine has been fervently working on for years. it is a rhythm game with a story set in a world where you are part of a band where music is illegal, and you beat up cops. :) its been in development for several years and was released yesterday. i played the demo earlier this year, and i had a lot of fun with the rhythm games in story mode. they felt very approachable and fun for a person like me who is not very good at rhythm games! its why i think people should give it a chance! i cannot touch the full release currently because my pc is in storage and my shitty laptop is not able to run it. but i can live vicariously through you. :) ill peek over your shoulder while you play and cheer you on.
if you read this all, im blushing. thank you for your time...i send you my virtual beam of appreciation.
